Reading seasonal churn for subscription brands in Thailand
Subscription retention in Thailand rarely moves in a straight line. Songkran travel, school term starts, and high season for tourism-facing memberships all leave marks on renewal charts. A dip in April is not automatically a product failure.
We encourage clients to keep a simple seasonal overlay: note public holidays, major sales periods, and any fulfilment interruptions alongside the cohort curves. The overlay does not excuse a problem, but it stops leadership from treating every trough as the same kind of emergency.
For brands that sell into both Bangkok and resort areas such as Chon Buri, geography matters too. A membership tied to in-person visits behaves differently from a replenishment box that ships nationwide. Separate the curves before declaring a company-wide trend.
If your quarterly pack only shows one blended retention line, ask for a second view split by plan and by signup month. Seasonal noise becomes easier to name — and easier to set aside when a real structural issue appears.
